PhD students from the IMPRS-CellDevoSys and DIGS-BB once again took a leading role in organizing the second Biopolis Dresden PhD Symposium - an event created by PhD students for other PhD students. This year's symposium will be hosted at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics (MPI-CBG) on 29 January 2018.
The Biopolis Dresden PhD Symposium aims to bring together all Dresden-based PhD students in the Natural Sciences, providing a forum that promotes interpersonal networking and scientific exchange. To benefit participants in a practical manner, much of the day's activities focus on group activities and project discussions, rather than lectures. Highlights include a number of chalk talks and workshop sessions on communicating science. Keynote speakers will present vision talks, with Patrick Wohlfahrt of Oncoray discussing "Proton Therapy" and Jacqueline Tabler of MPI-CBG speaking about "Academic Career Development." The symposium will culminate in a poster session where PhD students can present their projects and get feedback from their peers. This year, we are also pleased to welcome several PhD students from Institute of Molecular Genetics, ASCR in Prague as participants.
The organizing team hopes to establish the Biopolis Symposium as an annual event for all natural sciences students in Dresden in order to further develop our already excellent PhD research community.
